Show Abstract
Dataset containing all CTD measurements from the UNIS AGF-311/811 course cruise in November 2022 in Isfjorden, Svalbard. Each CTD profile contains measurements of temperature and salinity as functions of depth below sea level.
The students participated in oceanographic fieldwork on the different branches in Isfjorden and learned to operate a CTD.
Observations were used to calculate heat content and estimate heat fluxes. Students also worked with atmospheric observations,
focusing on contrasting land- and marine-based boundary layers and quantifying air-sea fluxes using weather stations.
Students learned how to operate a simple numerical column model, and used this to estimate the forcing needed to re-establish
ice cover on the different local fjords. Students write field reports describing a selected set of observations and included model
simulations studying the sensitivity of that process in re-establishing a sea ice cover.
