Abstract:
The dataset consists of analysed water samples collected at 69.746° N, 18.683° E (station KaF) in Kaldfjorden, Troms, between October 2017 and May 2018. Water samples were taken monthly with a Niskin bottle at 4 sampling depths. The chlorophyll a (Chl a) and the phaeophytine (Phaeo) concentrations were determined after filtering the water (vacuum filtration, Whatman GF/F filters) in triplicates and analyses of the filters in a fluorometer (extration in methanol, acidification method). In addition, water samples were vacuum filtered in tripicates (on pre-burned GF/F filters) and analyzed for particulate organic carbon (POC) and nitrogen (PON) using a CHN analyzer. Besides the water samples, short-term sediment traps (KC Denmark) were deployed for ~24 h every month at station KaF (4 sampling depths). Water and sinking particles in the sediment trap cylinders have been analyzed as described for the water samples for Chla, POC, and PON. Moreover, two vertical WP-2 zooplankton net hauls (180 µm mesh size) have been taken each months (100-50 m, 50-0 m). Zooplankton has been preserved (Zoofix) and was then analyzed using a stereomicroscope.
