Abstract:
In the Cape Darnley Polynya, we conducted continuous profiling of temperature and salinity to monitor the oceanic state from March to April 2019 . A conductivity, temperature, and depth profiler was installed at the top of the mooring system with a underwater winch type platform called SeaSAW. The platform was desinged to ascend and descend by underwater winch control between about 125 m and 0m (in case of no sea ice)/20m (in presence of "sea ice"). Satellite data transmission is implemented when it surfaces. SeaSAW was manufactured by NiGK Corporation, Japan. A conductivity, tempearture, and depth profiler of SBE-49 FastCAT, Sea-Bird Scientific, U.S., was installed on the buoy platform. The mooring system was deployed by JARE60 and retrieved by JARE61 using Icebreaker Shirase.
