The EU project Arctic PASSION is supporting the development of the SAON Data Portal. Quoting the Arctic PASSION website:

The key motivation behind Arctic PASSION is the co-creation and implementation of such a coherent, integrated Arctic observing system: the ‘Pan-Arctic Observing System of Systems - pan-AOSS’. It aims to overcome known flaws in the present observing system by refining its operability, improving, and extending pan-Arctic scientific and community-based monitoring and the integration with Indigenous and Local knowledge, by streamlining the access and interoperability of Arctic Data systems and services, and by ensuring the economic viability and sustainability of the observing system for years to come.

Arctic PASSION is actively working on discovery metadata harvesting and will use the SAON Data Portal as the data catalogue for the project and is developing specific guidance documentation for data providers and data centres. This information will also be made available through the SAON Data portal, but clearly indicated as Arctic PASSION documentation.

The data portal is currently being prepared for inclusion of relevant Arctic PASSION material and may change appearance in the next days.
